Healthy Success With ED Connect

Effective Data has helped many large businesses move their EDI environment to ED Connect, our off-premise, pay-per-use cloud platform. Ascend Laboratories, a global pharmaceutical manufacturer, is one example.

Ascend relies on a high volume of EDI documents for procurement, warehousing, supply and distribution. It handles more than 130,000 transactions a month, has 55 trading partners, 150 maps and 14 transaction sets.

We moved Ascend’s entire EDI environment to ED Connect in record time. Ascend had outgrown its previous BizTalk platform, and wanted to focus on its core business. It sought operational excellence and cost reduction by outsourcing EDI operations, and seamless integration that met IT needs across major business segments. Plus, the company needed heavy multi-site data exchange across a wide geography and variety of business partners.

In just four months, Effective Data completed a successful migration that followed best practices for planning, requirements, building/constructing, testing, implementation and post-implementation support. We provided:

• BizTalk and DiCentral EDI support before and during migration
• Enhancements including IBM B2B-SAP integration/interfaces to improve business management processes
• B2B gateway and integration solution, and trading partner onboarding
• An application infrastructure upgrade
• Migration of all EDI maps and transactions

Our centralized cloud solution significantly reduced duplication of purchase orders and invoices, saving considerable time, money and effort. The company has greater controls and expedited timeliness for onboarding, and has steadily onboarded new customers since migration.
