The Chicago based name of Gonnella conjures up visions of freshly baked, aromatic, crisp- crusted bread. When Gonnella first opened they made a few hundred loaves of bread weekly in a basement shop on Chicago's De Koven Street. The bread that comes out of the ovens today are the same top quality product that Alessandro Gonnella produced in his small, wood burning oven when he founded the company over a century ago.

Unlike a century ago, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is a business process that companies must implement in order to expand their operations and compete in the marketplace. In the mid-1970's Gonnella entered the frozen dough category as a supplier of the highest quality dough’s for the in-store bakery industry. With the success of this division they purchased a separate facility in 1980 dedicated solely to this category. The new plant is located in Schaumburg, Illinois. Gonnella’s frozen dough products are now distributed nationwide. Effective Data has been called in to work closely with Gonnella's Frozen Products division in Schaumburg.

Considering Effective Data's history as a leader in the EDI industry, their close proximity to Gonnella’s location and after meeting with the leadership at ED - Gonnella made the decision to form a partnership with Effective Data. ED's responsibilities at Gonnella will include setting up a number of new trading partners, integrating their EDI with their backend systems, and completely streamlining Gonnella’s entire EDI processes. Effective Data will also provide Gonnella with 24 / 7 EDI help desk support for any issues that may arise.
